About Rabbitbrush Therapy

Somatic & Nature-Based Therapy Rooted in Connection, Healing, and Growth

Rabbitbrush Therapy is the practice of Ethan Jones, MS, LPCC, offering somatic therapy and nature-based psychotherapy outdoors in Boulder, Colorado.

With the help of the natural world and through the integration of body, mind, spirit, and community, healing and transformation are possible.

Our bodies are nature. By bringing awareness back to the body, somatic therapy offers an opportunity to reconnect with our true selves, develop greater resilience, and create meaningful change.

Meet Ethan Jones, MS, LPCC

I am a licensed professional counselor candidate offering therapy for individuals, families, and relationships of all kinds. I work with people of all ages, including adults, young adults, teens, families and children who are seeking support, healing, and greater connection in their lives.

My approach is grounded primarily in somatic therapy, mindfulness-based therapy, and nature-based psychotherapy. I believe therapy is most effective when it honors the whole person: thoughts, emotions, physical experiences, spirituality, as well as social relationships, and broader environment.

All of you is welcome here. I bring curiosity and compassion to all of my therapeutic work, exploring what our experiences may be communicating and how we can work together to bring about transformation and healing. I always endeavor to cultivate a judgement-free space and am honored to accompany you along your healing path.

I believe in the transformative power of the natural world, and that healing is possible through the deepened integration of body, mind, spirit, and community.
  • Education and Therapeutic Approach

I earned my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Prescott College. Throughout my training and professional experience, I have developed a broad foundation in therapeutic approaches that support emotional healing, self-awareness, and personal growth.

    My work incorporates:

    • Somatic therapy

    • Nature-based therapy

    • Mindfulness-based therapy

    • Shamanic and spiritual teachings and techniques

    • Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Parts Work

    • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

    • Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)

    • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

Each person brings their own history, strengths, challenges, and goals into therapy. I draw from these approaches to create sessions that are responsive to your individual needs.

  • Why Nature-Based Therapy?

What is nature? What is not nature? In my personal and professional opinion, everything is nature! In my counseling work I endeavor to support you coming home to a sense of your own ‘true, inner nature from which you are able to live life with fulfillment, opportunity, and spirited connection.

Everything is nature! Indeed skyscrapers are made with materials from the Earth, our computers and the Internet too are made from and by our amazing Earth. And yet there is a specialness to being among the grasses and trees, where we can feel the wild breeze and hear the birdsong. Outdoor psychotherapy blends conventional therapy techniques with the magic of the wilder world and extends beyond the traditional office setting.

Being outdoors allows us to incorporate movement, sensory awareness, mindfulness, and connection with the natural environment. Our sessions may include walking with trees and brush, sitting under wide Colorado skies, grounding with the rhythms of the birds and forests, or simply creating space to listen and notice what is present and to come home to your truest nature.

  • A Welcoming Space for All Identities and Relationships

Rabbitbrush Therapy serves individuals, families, and relationships of every kind. I welcome people of all ethnic, cultural, religious, socioeconomic, and personal backgrounds.

    I work with:

    • Individuals

    • Families

    • Couples and partners

    • LGBTQ+ individuals and relationships

    • Polyamorous and non-traditional relationships

    • People exploring identity, spirituality, and authentic living

Therapy is a collaborative process. My role is to offer support, curiosity, and tools while honoring your unique experiences and the wisdom you bring.

  • My Connection to Boulder

I grew up visiting family in Boulder and have always felt at home at the base of the Rockies. I have lived and worked in Boulder since 2017, primarily on small-scale dairy farms and in agriculture.

Boulder has always offered itself to me as a place of healing and wisdom. I am honored to serve my community now as a source of guidance and care for those in need.

Outside of my therapy practice, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, learning new skills, helping out my community, and staying connected with the natural world.

My relationship with spirit and nature continues to shape both my personal life and my therapeutic work. Rabbitbrush Therapy grew from the belief that healing happens through connection with the wilder world as well as with ourselves and our communities.
